Abstract

Art and architecture is a form of communication but the author of the work may not be there to give the full meaning or the meaning as he or she intended when he or she was working on the art and the architecture. It is up to the viewer to give the interpretation, and the correctness of the work he or she has observed. Therefore, the essence of being wrong in the interpretation is solely for the viewer. In this paper, three pictures are described from a general feeling as can be seen from the picture; and even though the feeling may be different from the intended one by the author, it can be said that the use of different components could largely lead to the same description.

Picture 1: Pink Ice-mixed Media on Canvas (under respect part)

Description/Analysis

The framing of the picture is irregular because from a straight view the picture can be seen to have the upper side larger in breadth than the lower side. The colors are well blended to avoid contrast by ensuring that the colors that have been used are colors that emanate from the mixing of the primary colors rather than the use of primary colors only. The whole picture forms the focal point and there is no particular area that attracts more attention than the other.

Interpretation

From the description of a person who was not there when the author of the picture was making it, one can appreciate the use of good texture that brings a general feeling of appreciation. On the blending of colors, the picture may not bring out a particular meaning but rather some of the picture that uses shouting or strong colors depicts a certain feeling or occasion or place. However, it could be predicted that the author of the picture wanted to maintain a general appreciation just like any other art for aesthetic purposes.

Personal Reaction

Even though there is no text to explain the picture, it is quite clear that the author or the person who made the picture just wanted to bring the aesthetic value. When hang in a place, for instance on a wall in a house, the picture can bring out a feeling of stillness and this is because there is nothing in particular that can be said to have a focal point. However, the whole picture could be said to be the focal point and this is due to uniform use of colors.

Picture 2: Break Water-mixed Media on Canvas (under respect sacition)

Description/Analysis

As the sentence description of the picture state, this is break water that is then mixed with media on the canvas, and therefore, the feeling of a fall comes automatic. The author of the picture has used green which is a primary color, and this makes the focal point be the middle, the bottom part and the top part. The black color is well used as it breaks the monotony of the green color and so is the white color. To some extent, the framing could be said as irregular as it does not conform to the most regular shapes such as square and rectangle for wall frames and what can be seen is that the top part is bigger than the bottom.

Interpretation

The picture brings out the notion of a fall with the middle part depicting water falling from a cliff with the green color showing regular flowing of water and the white water showing splashes or droplets. In the middle is the black sky and this conforms to the possible interpretation of the author in the depiction of falling water or just water on a cliff falling.

Personal reaction

The use of colors is very good and therefore from a personal perspective, the author has accomplished to send a clear picture of water falling. The author has used green and this has helped in showing his or her concentration on the picture and whether or not he or she intended to have viewers concentrate to his or her meaning to the best way possible. Even though the interpretation may be different for different viewers, the feeling is the same.

Picture 3: Lashings 2 (under w.l.seaton part)

Description/Analysis

As the name of the picture suggest, this is a kind of arrangement of ropes that can be used in securing more than one item together in a rigid structure. The focal point is at the middle where there is some wrappings of the ropes and some wooden parts. However, the green color too attracts the eyes. The use of the color is somewhat haphazard and as could be explained, it brings out a chaotic vision.

Interpretation

The interpretation is that of a chaotic visions that are done by use of colors that probably are not supposed to be used.   For the woods, it is okay to use that color but in order to bring some harmony, it could have been better if the author would have used a different color. However, it can be noted that this has been neutralized a little by the green color to bring out a good effect or at least an appreciation of the art work. This seems to be the sole interpretation of the author of a chaotic vision and perhaps the value of rigidity in the work.

Personal Reaction

Even though the picture is appealing to the eyes and can be noticed by someone who is at far, it also strikes that the author does not employ the colors well and with a clear vision of some wrappings, it would have been better if the author used different colors for different things. For example, the ropes tying together some woods should have come with a uniform color and not having different colors at different instances.
